Memorial/Resource Centre opened, Mayday, 2010.

The new centre was blessed at a dawn ceremony conducted by kaumatua, Gary Coghlan (Ngati Waewae). After a morning forum, guests marched with banners to the Memorial where speeches were delivered by Grey District Mayor, Tony Kokshoorn, Labour List MP, Damien O'Connor, EPMU organiser, Alan Clarence, and special guest, Cuban Ambassador, Jose Garcia. After songs from The West Coast Wobblies, the ribbon was cut and guests could peruse the panels telling the story of the 1908 Strike, visit the Exhibition entitled, Relics and Memories, which features some of the acquisitions to the Memorial, including Paddy Webb's walking stick and a complete set of NZ Worker Union cards from 1932 to 1968.

The Memorial also has a library and a collection of DVDs, including most of Vanguard Films documentaries.

The Centre can be visited during daylight hours, with the Resource Centre open every Sunday, 1.00pm to 4.00pm, and at other times by arrangement. Ring 03 732 4010.
